Silver Bella 2010 – The Swaps!

Silver Bella 2010 105 cropI’m back from Silver Bella – energized and bursting with creative inspiration.  Some  of the  most anticipated events during Silver Bella are the swaps.  There’s something for every interest and skill level.  I participated in 5 (!) this year, and tried to choose at least a few that allowed me to spread my wings a bit creatively.   For the bag swap I created a purse using vintage bark cloth fabrics.  Here’s the fun bag I received from my partner, Anna. Silver Bella 2010 132 I love the way she combined vintage fabrics and linens with a wonderful piece of vintage quilt.   I also participated in an embellished bra swap to promote breast cancer awareness.  For this swap I tea dyed and appliqued a vintage long-line bra with chunks of old lace and some rhinestone bling.  Here’s the amazing piece of art I received from the swap hostess, NatalieSilver Bella 2010 105 She even embellished a wonderful vintage hanger to display the bra on.  I can’t wait to hang this inspiring beauty in my studio!

I also participated in several group swaps.  First was  a collection of wonderful vintage trims.  All the participants sent  some into the swap hostess, and then she divided them up and packaged them for us. Silver Bella 2010 124 crop I really loved her use of an egg carton for the packaging!  So clever.  I already have plans for some of these lovely trims to finish off my class projects!

Next up was a Millinery Trim Swap.  I’m a big fan of hats, and now with this swap I have flowers of every color and texture to trim my hats. Silver Bella 2010 129 The talent of the Silver Bella gals never ceases to amaze me.  All of the trims for this swap were either made entirely by the participant or up-cycled from bits of vintage treasures.

Speaking of Vintage Treasures – check out this BLING! Silver Bella 2010 115

For my last swap, participants created charms from vintage rhinestone jewelry.  We then sent them off to our amazing swap hostess, Cheryl along with a bracelet, and she created these breathtaking sparkly treasures for us!! Silver Bella 2010 110 crop

A total show-stopper, and I have to admit that I absolutely LOVE wearing it!
