Vintage Paper Dolls

Recently this summer I was searching for treasures at one of my favorite shops, and came across this box…. vintage paperdolls 002 crop

Quite intriguing, and when I opened it up – the most wonderful set of 1940’s paper dolls!vintage paperdolls 003

May I introduce you to Gail and Lenora?vintage paperdolls closeup crop

They have to-die-for wardrobes – classic 1940’s.  Don’t you just love the pin-up bathing suits and peep toe shoes? vintage paperdolls 005

Here’s a sample of some of my favorite outfits – all completely accessorized from jewelry to gloves to shoes.  The attention to detail is wonderful.  I  love the way the artist created the “fabrics” for each ensemble – such a great historical fashion reference in addition to being just plain fun!

I’m not sure what my plans are for lovely Lenora and Gail, but I have to admit a growing desire to try and replicate some of their fantastic fashions for myself.  This has certainly been the summer of re-awakening my love for vintage clothing – shoes, dresses, and now these wonderful paper dolls!  I can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings.

Have an opulent and stylish day!

  • Oooh, what a fabulous find!! I love paper dolls and these ones are amazing. So many outfits to choose from. I definitely think you should recreate some for yourself.

Thank you so much for your lovely comments on my blog. I really appreciate it.

    Sarah 🙂

  • You are too funny! did anyone ever tell you you shoulda been a writer? You know how to tell the story AND keep us in stitches! I love the introductions. I too look inside all random and obscure boxes at estate sales, flea markets, & garage sales. you never know what you’re gonna find! Enjoy, Julie

  • It’s not my color but I looove the red dress in the last photo. I suspect I’d be wearing the more structured green and white thing off to its right….

You know, if I lived in the 40’s….

  • HOW CUTE!! Great find!! I am always printing off paper dolls for my little one..their fashions are not quite as great as the ones you found!! So cute!!
