Just a Little Sew and Sew

After a bit of a break, I am happy to be sewing again.  I embroidered a few motifs during my trip to use in an upcoming project, summer sewing 026 crop

have been doing a bit of hand sewing to create items for an upcoming Silver Bella swap, summer sewing 035 crop

and have been totally inspired by this new book by Kay Whitt.  summer sewing 004 cropYou may be familiar with Kay from the dress and bag patterns she creates for McCall’s.  Let me just tell you that this book is fabulous.  I love every single project in it and am really motivated to make myself some new clothes to wear for the fast approaching school year.  I am starting today with this dress in these fabrics, and I will be sure to keep you informed as to how things progress! summer sewing 009 crop

(For some reason its easier for me to make clothes for my daughter than for myself, no idea why!)

I did adapt one of the skirt patterns for another project that has been in my head for a while.  Here’s a quick peek at that work in progress. summer sewing 028 crop

Have a lovely and creative Wednesday, everyone!

  • Can’t wait to see the finished product. be sure to model !

  • Looks pretty and interesting! I like those flowers a lot. Are they the Japanese? Kanashazi…that’s not quite right!

Ohhhh I can hardly wait to see your finished skirt.

Im the same way with sewing clothes for myself. I could make anything for my kids, but when it comes to me things never seem to fit right. So I stick to sewing crafts like pillows and bags for me.

  • Like you, I’m now on the hunt in Paris for some embroidery supply shops. At the flea market on Saturday morning in Vanves, I did find some bits of lace and some linens, but hubby pooped out way too soon. 🙂 He’s here only for a few days, so we’re actually taking it easy — and then I can begin hunting in earnest. I still can’t believe that you and I are both in Europe so much this summer that we can’t get together practically next door!!

  • The finished product looks like it’s going to be just lovely! 🙂

I can’t wait to check out this book! It looks like a lot of fun; however, I’m a terrible sewer of clothes and tend to stick with curtains, pillows, and other straight things…
The German fabrics look wonderful! I can’t wait to see some of these new and creative garments!!!

She will be in town next week signing copies of her book. I’m definitely going to get one now!!!!

Hugs, from your lil’ Bella Sis!
