Texture

I  am very much drawn to the textures of different materials and objects.  I love the way old fabrics, trims,  papers and jewelry feel.  You can really sense their histories by touching and imagining who else may have held them.  Here are some of the textures surrounding me in my studio today…..

  • Sue, I love all the textures. The ruffly blue skirt looks like the inspiration for an apron I’m gonna make, tho not to swap. Your assistant looks a little like I feel at the end of a shop day. Glad to get off my feet and on a comfy bed!

I love the linens/curtains you got at auction a couple weeks ago. Box lots of linens at auction are such fun — specially the delight of finding a piece you didn’t know was there.
    Have a fun weekend.

  • You have so many beautiful items to create with!!!

  • Sue Sue Sue!
Oh I have to tell you, I love that you took me into your studio! As I was playing with your studio assistant, I was passing my free hand on that wonderful lace table cloth! (By the way, your studio assistant loves the top of his back scratched!!) Then all of the sudden, I felt a drip from that beautiful silk jacket…lovely I tell you! I rummaged through your baubles and I was oh so delighted when I laid eyes on that 40’s gown. Oh I wish I were thin! Knowing I’m not, it brought me back to reality and I said my good byes to GG Lula and your assistant.
I had a wonderful visit through your “textiled” studio!!!!!!

  • Hey Sue,
I love that lilac gown!! I had so much fun, the other day, with you and Pamela!! Thanks so much for inviting me to come along, and for showing us where the beautiful prize ribbons were hidden away! You were such a sweety for treating us to lunch too, next time will be my turn.

  • What loveliness!!! I especially love the lace tablecloth and your assistent!

  • Sue, thanks for stopping by my blog the other day about crafting with vintage finds and leaving a comment! If you can, grab a friend and come to Boonsboro Days next month. I’m taking tons of antiques and artwork with me. Being new to blogging, I don’t know many Maryland bloggers yet! I don’t know where I’ll be set up yet, but if you come, I’d like to meet you.
