Three Bags Full – an Auction Adventure!

Yesterday I went to an auction, but not one of the laid-back country auctions I normally haunt.  This was a fancy estate auction down near Washington D.C. , complete with a full color catalog. It was to be a way to pass the day with some family members, do some serious people-watching, and perhaps become a bit more educated about some of the finer antiques out there (as opposed to my normal shabby, chippy, rather esoteric finds!)  For a full report of the day’s adventure, click on the Auction Adventures tab at the top of my page, just above the header photo.

I did not expect to purchase anything.  I had no plans to come home with even one piece.  Yet fate intervened, and I ended up with the following!

Yep!  Armfuls of wonderful old lace curtains, table cloths and bed skirts.  I am so glad I brought my own set of Market bags (see blog post from  April 29, 2009) to tote them home. Each bag has several pieces stuffed (gently) into it – more than what you see spilling out from the top!

I haven’t yet gone through the bags of goodies.  I want to wash everything and then see what exactly I have.  Sounds like a wonderful way to spend a cloudy, muggy summer day.  I just had to share!!

  • Sue, thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving a nice comment! I wanted to collapse after the Leesburg adventure, but real life has a way of intervening. I hadn’t seen your web site before and I’ll enjoy exploring it.

Hey Bella sis! Looks like you scored at the auction! Isn’t it funny how one always comes away with something? Looking forward to meeting you in November!

  • Lucky Gal! Can’t wait for you to show us how you use your bounty!
